Smith: In the hills of Tuscany lives a devoted Georgia fan

CORTONA, Italy | As a young boy, Riccardo Bertocci became fascinated by the Americans who spent their summers studying abroad in the Tuscan hilltop town of Cortona, his hometown.Riccardo learned to speak English by eavesdropping on their conversations in the piazza where they would hang out for coffee, beer, wine and small talk. With the passing of time, he learned about the Bulldogs and American football and that the Dawgs represented the University of Georgia in the Southeastern Conference.
